The distance from the International airport to Thulusdhoo is less than an hour away, if you use a boat. Thulusdhoo is the capital of Kaafu Atoll.

One of the major things that make Thulusdhoo to stand out is the access it gives visitors to Cokes, the major surfing destination in the Maldives. If you use a speedboat, it will take you 20 minutes to get to Cokes from Male.

Most of the hotels in Thulusdhoo have been built to cater to the needs of surfers, since surfers are the majority of visitors to this island. However, guesthouses that cater to other types of guests are being opened up in the island.

You can get to surf in the ocean at any time throughout the year when you are in Thulusdhoo. The location of the island, far out in the Indian Ocean makes it a perfect location for surfing, since the regular waves that break out on the island are ideal for surfing. The island is surrounded by a coral reef all around it, which protects the lagoon, providing for great surfing conditions most of the time.
